How does RunSafe work?

RunSafe was designed with the running athlete in mind, focusing on injury prevention and biomechanical analysis. Knowing how to prevent running injuries and practicing safe training methods are the best strategy to running safely.

As a RunSafe client, you will receive personalized assessments of multiple components of your running and training patterns. From these assessment findings, recommendations will be given to you in the form of a personalized “report card.” The total RunSafe experience will last approximately 2 hours, consisting of the following multidisciplinary assessment stations:

1. Video Gait Analysis - Using a computerized motion analysis software, a UCSF sports medicine physician will evaluate your running biomechanics from multiple camera angles.

2. Strength & Flexibility Assessment - A UCSF Faculty Practice physical therapist will evaluate your functional strength & flexibility using focused assessment techniques.

3. Nutritional Analysis & Counseling - A registered sports dietitian will discuss the components of your nutritional habits and make personalized recommendations that support your athletic endeavors.

4. Foot Dynamics & Footwear Assessment – Professionals certified in orthotics & prosthetics will assess your foot shape and dynamics, and examine your footwear.

5. Debriefing and Recommendations – Your results from each station will be discussed with you and recommendations will be made based on the findings. You will receive a personalized “report card” outlining these findings and recommendations.
